Las Meninas Playbill

A classic masterpiece meets modern storytelling

A reimagining of Diego Velázquez’s 17th-century masterpiece Las Meninas as a theatrical playbill. I researched each figure that is part of this painting . From Infanta Margarita and her ladies-in-waiting to the painter himself, each illustrated it in Photoshop, bringing their personalities under the light of the stage.

This art book was made in InDesign, each spread invites the reader deeper into the story of the “cast”. To complement the book, I made magnets that can be an interactive piece of the composition, and wrapped the book with twine and a wax seal for an aged, 1600s-inspired touch, a nod to the painting’s history and my love for editorial design, art, print, and tactile experience.
